Welcome![edit]

Hiya Xolroc! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's great when we get new members. Just thought I'd send you a welcome with some helpful info. Check out the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at the Userboxes page: a near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~ (do not sign edits to articles). Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun!

Suspicious Names[edit]

Our policy on assuming good faith entails that we give all new accounts the benefit of a reasonable doubt. Further, if we commented on every suspicious account that was made, it would be all that we would do. So except in the most extreme and obvious scenarios, or where a notorious pattern is repeating itself, it's best to ignore such things until if and when the account exhibits some activity. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 04:23, 4 September 2013 (GMT)

Alright, sorry about that. I thought right after doing that that it was probably a bad idea, but by then I'd already hit the save button. Xolroc (talk) 12:53, 4 September 2013 (GMT)
No big deal. I still do that on occasion :-) For future reference, it's probably better to leave a message on a user's talk page rather than their user page. And Minor Edits is right that there's probably no need to call someone suspicious, even if they are. ThuumofReason (talk) 12:35, 5 September 2013 (GMT)
I'd meant to put it on the talk page, anyway. Did I not? Xolroc (talk) 19:17, 5 September 2013 (GMT)
The first time was on the talk page, but the second time was on the Userpage. No big deal, though :-) ThuumofReason (talk) 21:55, 5 September 2013 (GMT)

Clear=none[edit]

Clear=none handles the positioning of the images, but it's currently broken. Just check Skyrim:Steel for example, the images should be nicely placed next to each other, instead they just pile up on the right. On the page you removed them however, they were incorrectly placed ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 22:42, 8 September 2013 (GMT)

Word wall Gaan[edit]

Gaan word wall transcript is not correct. Its not PIRaaN, its PIRaaK. — Unsigned comment by Qqqbbb (talkcontribs) at 19:53 on 13 October 2013

KOPRaan/KOPRaak* There is an additional source to this translation given in Dragon Language: Myth no More, which verifies the 'n'. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:07, 13 October 2013 (GMT)
I know very little about the dragon language; I'm just removing unsourced translations. Xolroc (talk) 20:32, 13 October 2013 (GMT)
Im not talking about translation and Im not talking about KOPRaan/KOPRaak. The word on the wall is PIRaaK not PIRaaN. Open powerwordgaan.nif and compare it to what we have on the wiki. — Unsigned comment by Qqqbbb (talkcontribs)
Again, I have no knowledge of the dragon language. I am not the one to be asking about this; I can't even read the letters. I suggest you take it up with Silencer; he seems to know what he's talking about. Xolroc (talk) 03:52, 14 October 2013 (GMT)

I've noticed the sheer amount of effort you've put into the site over the last few days, and your willingness to correct your own mistakes and own up to them. You're shaping up to be a great editor, friend! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:00, 28 October 2013 (GMT)
Word. Keep up the great work! :) — ABCface 06:52, 28 October 2013 (GMT)
Woah, how'd I fail to notice this?! Thanks, both of you; I'm honored! Xolroc (talk) 22:36, 30 October 2013 (GMT)

Skyrim:Khajiit[edit]

I didn't want to put that there are no dialogue options whatsoever, I just wanted to condense it down to about 1/3 of that sentence length, saying: You cannot marry any Khajiits "Full Stop". DGAny Questions? 22:29, 30 October 2013 (GMT)

I agree with you that it needs to be shortened. However, making it clear that even with console commands it cannot be done is potentially valuable information, which should be included. No khajiit (I believe the word is non-pluralizing?) can be married, but above that they don't even have any of the required dialog lines for the process. So while it would be simple, for instance, to make Madesi marriageable, since there are recorded and scripted dialog lines for the player to have an argonian husband, but it would require complicated scripting and (for maximum integration) voice acting if you wanted to marry J'zargo. Xolroc (talk) 22:34, 30 October 2013 (GMT)
OK, let's compromise. We will shorten that part to at least 1/2 of how it is now.
Agreed? DGAny Questions? 22:38, 30 October 2013 (GMT)
I think you're missing a fundamental point here. There's no need for a compromise; we want something that sounds good no matter who reads it, so we go for a consensus. Don't measure things by how short they are, measure by how naturally the sentences flow and how proper the information seems to be. It shouldn't be a matter of "it should be 1/3 the length" but just that "it should be shorter" or even just "it should state this information and not this information".
