Receiving the Quest

Since there was some doubt as to whether it was possible to receive this quest in vanilla when I requested the article's creation, I'll describe how it's possible to receive it, having successfully done so just now:

• Join the Stormcloaks and complete every quest up to the Jagged Crown. Retrieve the crown but do not give it to Ulfric.
• Start Season Unending, making sure not to give the Jagged Crown to either Ulfric or Tullius when you invite them to the council.
• At the council, exchange Riften for Morthal and Falkreath.
• Once the council adjourns, give the crown to General Tullius and thereby defect to the Legion.

That's pretty much what's currently described on the page in the Quick Walkthrough, though I didn't note Morthal as a possibility. I can't recall that being an option for me, but it's a confusing quest progression, so I may have done something to rule it out as an option. – Robin Hood  ^(talk) 16:50, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Ah right, didn't notice that. And since I accidentally saved before completing my edit summary: giving Hjaalmarch to the Stormcloaks doesn't trigger this quest, Ulfric and Galmar just seem to usually demand it before Falkreath. Vicano (talk) 13:25, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
