Fihada is a Redguard fletcher and the owner of the Archery shop similarly named Fletcher in Solitude.
His room is located above the main trading room and he sleeps there every night between midnight and 8am. He then unlocks the store and spends the next ten hours standing behind the counter, offering his wares to customers. At 6pm he will keep the shop open but will wander around, at times cooking or eating. At 8pm he heads down to the Winking Skeever for a meal and some socializing with the other citizens. He stays there until his bedtime at midnight.
He wears a regular set of clothes and boots and carries his long bow with 15 steel arrows. He also carries a steel dagger, the store key and a variety of common loot and gold.
Dialogue[edit]
When you enter his shop, he will bid you welcome, with a spontaneous:
- "Your path has brought you to the finest fletcher in all the land."
His normal greetings:
- "Hello and welcome, my friend. How may I help you on this fine day?"
- "True, I may look the part of dashing swordsman, but I prefer the art of wit to that of warfare."
- "Your typical Solitude wench is like the city itself. Stormy exterior, but ah the charms that lie within..."
- "A sharp mind beats a sharp blade any day. Words to live by."
- I need some arrows that can take down a dragon...
- "Why of course. And will you also be needing the bow that shoots rainbows? Or perhaps a quiver that dispenses beer? Look, if you want arrows we have them, but don't insult my intelligence."
After doing business with him, he may close the conversation with:
- "Perhaps I'll be seeing more of you."
- "Please come back if you're ever in need of fletching supplies."
Conversations[edit]
Inside the fletcher, Fihada will occasionally have conversations with his apprentice, Jawanan:
- Fihada: "How's it coming there, Jawanan?"
- Jawanan: "Slow, but looking good, sir."
- Fihada: "Slow's the only way to do it! Work too hard and you'll warp the wood."
- Jawanan: "Fihada, where did you learn how to make bows so well?"
- Fihada: "The same place I learned my charm and quick wits: I used to be an Imperial ranger, my boy!"
- Jawanan: "Wish I could learn some of that charm. I'm just good with bows, not people."
- Fihada: "You'd make a better Imperial ranger than me. I may have charmed the locals, but my fellow soldiers hated my waggling tongue."
When visiting the inn in the evenings, he will often turn to the female guests and make them an offer:
- Fihada: "Can I buy you a drink, darling?"
- Vivienne Onis: "Oh, yes please!" or "You can buy me whatever you want!"
Rumors[edit]
His apprentice, Jawanan, will refer you to him if spoken to:
- "If you're looking for any archery or fletching supplies, you should see Fihada. I'm just the apprentice."
While Fihada seems generally popular around town, there is one person that doesn't seem to be impressed by his act: Odar, the cook at the Blue Palace. When he visits the courtyard of the Bards College, he can be observed talking to Jawanan about him:
- Odar: "How do you put up with that fop Fihada?"
- Jawanan: "I once saw Fihada put an arrow in between the eyes of a Blackblood Marauder at five hundred paces. You don't put up with a man like that. He puts up with you."
Unused Dialogue[edit]
Based on an unused line of dialogue, it appears that Fihada was originally meant to comment on your loudness when entering the store. At which point you could mention it to him:
- I didn't make that much noise.
- "Please. You're in the presence of a born huntsman. I can hear the sweat sliding down your forehead."
As is the case with many Solitude citizens, you can find a lot of earlier versions of Fihada's dialogue still present in the Creation Kit:
Final | Early |
---|---|
"True, I may look the part of dashing swordsman, but I prefer the art of wit to that of warfare." | "I realize you may mistake me for a dashing swordsman, but I prefer the art of wit to that of warfare." |
"Your typical Solitude wench is like the city itself. Stormy exterior, but ah the charms that lie within..." | "A piece of advice... do not underestimate the beauty of Solitude's fair ladies. Like the city itself, they hide their charms behind stormy exteriors!" |
"Perhaps I'll be seeing more of you." | "I hope I'll see you around then." |
"Please come back if you're ever in need of fletching supplies." | "Come back for any of your fletching needs." |
I need some arrows that can take down a dragon... "Why of course. And will you also be needing the bow that shoots rainbows? Or perhaps a quiver that dispenses beer? Look, if you want arrows we have them, but don't insult my intelligence." |
I need some arrows to take down dragons. "And I could use a bow that shot lightning and a gold chamber pot to piss in. If you want arrows we have them, but if I wanted to hunt dragons I would use shouts, not a bow." |
In the DialogueViews files, you can even find an earlier version of his unused dialogue as seen above. The first two sentences are also noted in the Creation Kit, but the other two are only found in the former files:
- "Please. You have stepped into the realm of a hunter. A person who breathes only with the wind itself. Your clamorous steps ring like a thousand men treading across a thousand battlefields. They volume alone hurts my trained ears."
Notes[edit]
- If Fihada dies, Jawanan will take over running the store, offering the same merchant services as Fihada.
- Fihada has relationship markers set up which show that he is friends with Beirand, Geimund, and even Legate Rikke. None of these people will ever address him or mention any kind of relation with him, however.
Bugs[edit]
- Fihada cannot make use of the fletcher-specific merchant dialogue because he is not a part of the
JobFletcherFaction
, which is required for it to play.
