Quest-Related Events[edit]
After deciding to help High Priest Caroril retrieve her acolytes, you can enter the Vale to go search for them. In a small tent past the Wine Sommelier's pavilion, you can find a drunk Rakamin with a comatose Ahaht-Sakka nearby:
- Rakamin: "This wine tastes of warm days. but does it taste of love? Perhaps more would help."
Speak with Rakamin to convince him to leave:
- "Ugh! This one's wine goblet is empty! Where are the servants? An empty goblet is an unfulfilled goblet. It needs more wine!"
- Are you one of High Priest Caroril's acolytes? She's worried about you.
- "Caroril? Oh, Bright Moons no! Rakamin stayed too long.
He only indulged to see how ugly drunkenness can be. But drunkenness shines and swirls. He can see the Lady of Love in the rippling stars. Caroril must know of this. He will tell her!"
After speaking him, he will comment:
- Rakamin: "This one will go now, once the world stops spinning."
Talking to him again before leaving:
- "Not to worry. This one will find his way back. After the ground stops moving of course. It will be very difficult to find his way to Caroril, if Rakamin cannot keep his footing."
Searching the Vale of Revelry, you can find a Mornabeth preacing to the Revelers and a happily dancing Hraewin. With the latter, she will vent her frustration about High Priest Caroril and her beliefs. This comes to a head after you locate all the acolytes, as you when you leave the Vale, you will find High Priest Caroril admonishing Hraewin and Rakamin:
- High Priest Caroril: "What do you two have to say for yourselves? You stink of wine and overindulgence!"
- Hraewin: "And you stink of arrogance! I learned more about joy in that party than I ever did with you."
- Rakamin: "Please argue quieter. This one begs."
Talking to Rakamin before completing the quest with High Priest Caroril:
- "Is this how it will be? Hraewin and Caroril's arguments are legendary, but this seems different. Rakamin does not feel Dibella in this moment.
That could also be the wine. It went right to Rakamin's head!"
After completing the quest, Hraewin will of had enough:
- Hraewin: "I spit on Dibella and your brushes. I will dance at that party until I'm ready to leave!"
- <Hraewin stalks off back towards the tent.>
- Rakamin: "This one does not feel well."
- <Rakamin sways and falls backwards.>
- High Priest Caroril: "There's beauty in all things. Especially the sight of a foul person retreating."
- <Mornabeth takes out a quill and paper, and jots some notes down.>
- Mornabeth: "Dibella's teachings are varied and plentiful."
You can speak with the supine Rakamin before leaving:
- "Mornabeth says Dibella's lessons are everywhere. Rakamin believes he is in the middle of one.
Leave Rakamin. Let the ground claim him. Maybe then his stomach will settle and his head will stop throbbing." - Are going to still follow Dibella? / Rakamin are you all right?
- "Rakamin may behave like a kitten who ate too much moon-sugar, but Dibella forgives. He now sees the ugliness of drunkenness. He wishes he could stop seeing it And feeling it.
Rakamin will not partake of the mead or the wine for a long time." - Are you as angry with Caroril as Hraewin?
- "Caroril? She's lovely. Beautiful except when talking to Hraewin. This one does not know why those two can't see love everywhere. In the beautiful dance and the passionate embrace. Even this pain is beautiful in its way.
Still, Caroril knows best." - What makes you say that?
- "Because she actually seeks beauty. Caroril may not have Hraewin's passion, but she is not wrong about Dibella. Or about Sanguine.
Rakamin enjoyed the party, but he felt an emptiness, too."
Dialogue[edit]
After you have assisted the sect at the Vale of Revelry, Rakamin can later be found in Sunport, next to the the Sleepy Sloth Inn and Pub:
- "It is nice to see you again, and without the dizziness of wine or the eye pain that followed.
Please forgive this one for his behavior. He attended many parties as a kitten and thought he could hold his drink better than he could." - Are you feeling better now?
- "While this one did not feel quite himself for a while following his … indulgence, his stomach has settled. Now he can help grow the Blushing Brush's ranks.
If Caroril will let him, of course." - Why won't Caroril let you help?
- "She wants proof that Rakamin has reconnected to Dibella before releasing him to preach the Lady's virtues.
After you left us outside the Vale of Revelry, this one offered to retrieve Hraewin. His words did not foster much confidence." - You wanted to go after Hraewin? Didn't she leave the Blushing Brush?
- "Rakamin wanted to talk to her and see if she meant what she said, but Hraewin refuses to leave the party.
This one misses his friend and wants to see her happy. If her joy is dancing for Sanguine, then she should have our blessings." - But Caroril doesn't want to give Hraewin her blessing?
- "Stars and moons, no. Those two are as stubborn as they come.
Rakamin will hold onto his questions and blessings until Hraewin's path crosses with his once more. Then he will greet her with open arms, regardless of what Caroril thinks."
