Online:Old Life Observance
|
This quest is only available during the New Life Festival |
Petronius Galenus told me about the Old Life tradition in which people write messages to those that have passed on and burn them at special shrines.
(Subsequent Times)
Petronius Galenus has learned of another Old Life shrine I can perform the ceremony at.
Quick Walkthrough[edit]
- Talk to Petronius Galenus.
- Travel to the mentioned zone and find the Old Life shrine.
- Perform the Old Life Ceremony.
- Return to Petronius Galenus.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
After agreeing to participate in the Old Life remembrance ritual, you can continue speaking with Petronius Galenus about the tradition. During this he will ask if you can take a Bundle of Old Life Messages from Imperial refugees and burn them at the Old Life shrine. It is up to you whether you agree to this or not. You can then travel to the shrine Petronius marked out on your map, the zone picked will be randomized. The following table shows the shrine locations within their zone:
Zone | Area | Notes |
---|---|---|
Auridon | South of Wreck of the Raptor | |
Bangkorai | North of Viridian Woods | |
Reaper's March | West of Little Ozur's Camp | |
Stonefalls | Northwest of Fort Virak, near the border with The Rift (map) | Accessible through the southern zone exit in the Rift or by going counterclockwise around Fort Virak in Stonefalls. |
The Rift | East of Fullhelm Fort | In the southeast corner of the map, within the rocks. |
Glenumbra | Northeast of the southern end of the Cambray Pass (map) | The North Hag Fen Wayshrine is closest to this shrine |
The shrine will be shaped like a small obelisk and there you can perform the remembrance ceremony. Light the candle and write a message to someone deceased, once both are done you can burn the Message of Remembrance over the flame. You may witness a spirit manifesting next to the shrine for a moment. With the ceremony completed, you can return to Petronius Galenus at the New Life pavilion in Eastmarch.
- "Ah, you've returned! Did you find the shrine and take part in the ceremony?"
- I found the shrine and participated in the Old Life ceremony.
- "Then may your message reach Aetherius, traveler. I'm glad to have been a part of your celebration of the Old Life.
Take this. It's my gift to you, in the spirit of the tradition. Something special, so you can remember this Old Life day."
Petronius will then hand you some gold and a New Life Festival Box.

) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
