Dreamer

Dreamer is the new identity of Cres, a watchling who has chosen to live on Tamriel, which is taken if Cres is allowed to join the House of Reveries as a Hopeful under Alchemy's tutelage, rather than be banished back to Apocrypha, which depends on the choice made at the end of the related quest.

The Face of Change

If you choose to allow Cres to stay on Tamriel, Alchemy will lead them away into the bog, back towards her camp. During this journey, she will ask Cres to assume a different form:

Alchemy: "Now, if you're going to be a proper Hopeful, I'm going to need you to take a form similar to one of my players. Can you do that?"

Cres: "Oh! Yes! With your help that will be easy! How is this?"

<Cres takes a humanoid form wearing a House of Reveries mask.>

Alchemy: "You'll have no difficulty with brisk scene changes, certainly. Now for a name that speaks to your soul. What about … Dreamer?"

Dreamer: "Dreamer. I like that very much."

You can later find Dreamer with Alchemy at the House of Reveries campsite:

"Hello again …! Right, the blankness in your eyes reminds me that you do not know this face. Porcelain face.
It's—oh, wait, Alchemy said that no one should know who I was before. I am Dreamer now. I'm going to be an actor!"

Are you—

"Rhymes with bless? Yes! Alchemy helped me with my … outfit. Do you like it? I really like masks. Faces are hard. Um, expressions I mean. Acting."

I take it you like your new life so far.

"It's wonderful. And scary. I'm … me. No one expects me to behave in a certain way. I can just be. And when people ask me things about myself, I just make them up, and they laugh! Except Alchemy, she just rests her face in her hands usually."

"Thank you! I can't wait to see it. Alchemy says I must try out. I imagine there will be lots of trying things. I can't wait!"

Dreamer with Alchemy in Gideon

Dreamer will attend the celebrations in Gideon along with Alchemy if you let them stay on Nirn:

"So this is what it's like to be part of an audience? It's much more cheerful than watching silently from the shadows. I especially like the clapping and cheering."

How has your transition been?

"Wonderful! All of the Players have welcomed me among the troupe as if I've always been a part of it. Some even invented some back-stories for me that are way more interesting than anything I came up with!"

So you are enjoying being an actor?

"Yes, yes, yes! I have gotten try out so many things since I became Alchemy's student! Like sticking a sword under my arm for a death scene and not stabbing myself in the chest.
I'm not allowed to try sword swallowing yet, though."

"Thank you for giving me a chance. I get to be anyone I want now. But most importantly, I get to be me.
And don't worry, I am now totally aware that break a leg is merely a figurative expression."
