Yes, to your first question. But to the latter, you must store your things in the non-respawning chests, rather than any of the crates, sacks, etc., which makes the ship somewhat less desirable than other, purchasable houses.

The page was recently updated with information about all safe containers on the ship. So yes, stick to the non-respawning containers and it is a good "house" --Krusty 18:16, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
