The Drublog Clan is a faction of Wood Orcs that live in northern Valenwood. They are the largest tribe of Wood Orcs in Malabal Tor[1] and are split between sub-clans that maintain several villages across the region such as Bloodtoil Valley, Dra'bul, and their largest settlement Jathsogur.[2][UOL 1] The Drublog are a warrior clan that seek to prove themselves and value strength.[1] Though some would say that the Bosmer look down on the Drublog, they have lived together for generations and in times of war, they fought side by side.[3][4]

History[edit]

Historical Overview[edit]

Dra'bul
"Since the earliest days, blood and toil have known no end in our hearts. Mauloch demands a blood price. Z'en's price is no different."
—Spinner Sandaenion on the Bosmer's relationship with the Drublog[5]

The Drublog's ancient history is unknown. Dra'bul near the Falinesti Summer Site is a place of superstitious importance. It is where the villages gather to hold gladiatorial contests. Its significance dates back to their ancestors.[UOL 1] Bloodtoil Valley is reportedly a sacred and old place dedicated to Mauloch, so it also has importance to the Drublog.[6] Before the Wood Orcs had a falling out with their brethren from Orsinium, the two had a cultural exchange. Visitors from the north were given a golden pin depicting Jathsogur.[7]

The Drublog has a conflicting relationship with the Wood Elves. On the positive side, the smiths of Dra'bul forge tools and other items out of iron and steel and sometimes trade them with locals.[8][9][10] On the negative side, the two get into minor squabbles,[11] with the Drublog occasionally raiding Velyn Harbor,[12] but at worst, Drublog Orcs are hunted and dozens of their tusks are collected on a bone disc, attached with catguts.[13]

The most widely contentious point for the Drublog and the Bosmer was Bloodtoil Valley. Both see the site as a sacred ground for their respective deities, Mauloch and Z'en, both of whom are similar gods that seek a price.[5] At one point, after the hunt of the great boar, the two factions dined and enjoyed a time of peace in Mauloch's honor.[14] In another time, the Bosmer returned having spent the winter in Falinesti and drove out the Drublog that they deemed squatters.[15] At some point, the two fought a battle that ended in severe casualties for both sides. Though they struck a truce in the end, there was doubt whether peace would last.[6]

The Drublog and the Hound[edit]

Ulthorn the Hound

After the First Aldmeri Dominion was founded in 2E 580, some members of the clan, even Chief Nagoth of Jathsogur believed they should have been asked to join.[1] In 2E 582, Chief Nagoth of Jathsogur was set on attaining great power and formed several alliances to achieve this.[1] The Drublog decided to join forces with the Hound. They promised the Wood Orcs power over Valenwood and the conquests of a hundred cities, if they could detain the Green Lady (Gwaering).[16] The Dra'bul clan, led by Chief Agrakh, feeling embittered by the hostilities with the Bosmer and seeking retribution, joined the Hound to bring them down.[3]

The first stage of their plans was sacking the port town of Velyn Harbor, where preparations were made for Gwaering and the Silvenar's (Indaenir) wedding. The Drublog allied again with Redguard pirates called the Ra Gada to attack Velyn Harbor from two fronts, with the Drublog attacking the Residential District from the mainland.[17] Chief Makhug led the Wood Orcs, but while the Ra Gada's leader, Captain al-Hallen wanted to burn the town, Makhug refused to destroy it.[12] The invaders were defeated when the Fists of Thalmor and the Vestige arrived to liberate the town. Chief Makhug was killed in the ruins of the town hall.[17]

Gwaering arrived to Velyn Harbor shortly after and began investigating the Drublog with the Vestige. The two set out to Dra'bul to learn why. From a timely meeting with the Hound, the Vestige learned of their plans for the Drublog to capture the Green Lady. But by then, Gwaering was captured, and Chief Agrakh awaited the Hound in Dra'bul's arena. The Vestige and a Dra'bul native named Roku confronted Chief Agrakh in the arena and freed the Green Lady, but then the chief killed Roku for insubordination. Gwaering enacted revenge on the spot and, upon realizing the Hound's true identity, set out to confront him.[18]

At around the same time, another conflict broke out in the Bloodtoil Valley. The Wood Elf Dalaneth met the Wood Orc Ulagash and fell in love, much to the dismay of Ulagash's mother, Chief Ulukhaz. Dalaneth sent an adventurer to save Ulagash from Shaman Yarnag at the shrine to Mauloch, but by the time they got there, he was killed. The adventurer killed the shaman, but as that happened, the Drublog invaded the Bosmer village and abducted Dalaneth. In trying to save her, the Vestige found Dalaneth fatally wounded and killed Chief Ulukhaz. Dalaneth's father, Mathragor, completely enraged by this, demanded an equal blood price, the death of the Drublog in Bloodtoil Valley. However, an emissary of Z'en appeared and claimed the Drublog paid many times over for the Bosmer people. Whether Mathragor was convinced to end the cycle of bloodshed or if the emissary enforced Z'en's will by destroying Mathragor is unknown. But the conflict in Bloodtoil was over.[19]

Indaenir and his advisors were attacked by the Drublog and imprisoned in Jathsogur, much like the Green Lady was. The Vestige arrived momentarily and freed the Silvenar's ambassadors, Raen and Sariel. The Drublog used the Ritual of Unbinding to siphon Indaenir's life energy while he was imprisoned in Jathsogur's main longhouse with his captor, the Houndsman Drauginas. The three set out across Jathsogur to destroy the four binding stones and sacrificed one of the ambassadors to disrupt the ritual. The Vestige fought Drauginas and a wave of Drublog, including Chief Nagoth, to free the Silvenar.[20] Indaenir believed that after this defeat, the Drublog threat was finished.[21] What became of the clan afterward is unknown.
